Q: Do I need to sign up to join MXN?
There is not a sign up process to join MXN. We do ask all participants in the network to join our Surplus Magic Exchange facebook space. The request to join that space lets us evaluate and validate that the person meets our criteria to have access to the network and the information inside. Once they are admitted into SME then we can quickly allow them into our other spaces as well.
Q: What are the requirements to participate in the network?
If you are a magician or variety entertainer you may request to join our network. To join, simply request to join our Facebook commerce space, Surplus Magic Exchange. We will review your Facebook profile personally and assess your credentials. You do need to be 18 years of age to participate. Once you are added to this space you can then request to join our other spaces as well and we will quickly add you to those venues. Please remember to read our rules as participating in our spaces is your agreement to be held accountable to the community.
Q: How can I promote my business in the Network?
We certainly do have affordable advertising opportunities available to promote businesses here. We want to work with vetted companies who offer products and services to our community members. We have several ways that businesses can reach our community in a way that supports both their business, the members of the community and our continued growth as a community.
You can find more information on advertising opportunities here.
Q: What is the MXN policy regarding Knock offs.
MXN is of the official opinion that the rule of law applies to all trades on our sales spaces. This means that if an item is legal to sell in a private transaction between both buyer and seller in a free market then it is also legal to sell in our spaces.
This said, we DO NOT allow items that are illegal reproductions, patent infringements or copyright infringements to be sold in our spaces.
We encourage all members to purchase from originators of effects whenever possible. We also acknowledge that there are similar but different items in the marketplace that while copying the end result or using a similar method are still by rule of law legal to sell.
We cannot act as officiant in determining the authenticity of any item being posted for sale in our spaces. We also cannot attest to who created similar effects first within our industry.
We concern ourselves only with ILLEGAL SALES of COUNTERFEIT ITEMS posing as legitimate items.
applies to any item that is posted on our spaces.
From the seller we do insist on full disclosure of maker. We do not assume the role of authenticating any item that is sold
Q: What happened to "MagicainVillage"
The original MagicianVillage proved to be just a little too ambitious a project to manage. We opted instead for a more "controlled growth" approach to building a community and a network to serve the magic community. We will be honoring all of our promises to those who invested in our community in the early days. For now we have limited our spaces but do have plans to expand our spaces based on the demand of the needs of our members. We call this our "controlled growth model"

Q: What are the rules and why are they necessary?
We believe that by setting guidelines and expectations for participation that we are creating a healthy and productive community. We have worked very hard on keeping the rules easy to follow and understand. We want everyone's experience to be positive one and for our network of spaces to be a safe place for individuals to "Buy, Sell, Trade, Talk and Learn!" You can find more about our rules here.
